Ah! My love for astrobiology took me all the way to Italy! Taking part in the International Geobiology Course (IGC) at Penn State was an experience that brought me full circle—from researching life on Earth to dreaming of life beyond. The course took us through the Frasassi cave systems in Italy and Green Lake in New York, where I learned firsthand how studying Earth’s extreme environments can unlock clues about potential life on other planets. The interdisciplinary approach, fieldwork, and mentorship from the faculty pushed me out of my comfort zone and deepened my understanding of geobiology, preparing me for a future that bridges both worlds.
